Wow... Image that, a team stays in the #1 slot for more than a week? say it ain't so!

Yep. Finally a number one team managed to hold serve for a week. After a couple of solid performances, UConn will stay #1, but what about the rest of the field? in the strangest week to date, a bunch of teams not only dropped in the polls, they dropped out of the polls while some others re-entered the polls and others entered them for the first time.

So, without further adieu, here's my humble opinion...

National Power 10

1. Connecticut (22-1)
Last week #1

UConn destroyed Louisville (LW #2) and then took down, giant killer Michigan. Good enough for me.

2. Oklahoma (23-1)
Last week #4

Oklahoma keeps on rolling with Blake Griffin at the helm. If you haven't watched this guy, he's a treat... a white guy who is big but has moves like Larry Bird... never thought I'd see that. I'm nearly inclined to put these guys into the top spot for the heck of it.

3. North Carolina (21-2)
Last week #5

The week one top team fell mightily after a couple losses, but they have rebounded nicely with six wins in a row. Carolina seems poised, once again to snag the #1 seed in the East... of course, they get Duke this week.

4. Pittsburgh (21-2)
Last week #6

Pitt continues to rebound after falling hard from the number one slot as well. Still, in the top heavy Big east, Pitt will have plenty of time to claim their own fame as they still get to play #1 ranked UConn TWICE!

5. Duke (20-3)
Last week #3

I thought about dropping Duke further after the 27 point loss to Clemson and a sub par effort two days later, but given how everyone else played and since my next team is entering the poll for the first time, I thought it might be a bit harsh.

6. Memphis (20-3)
Last week Not ranked

14 game winning streak, and a blow out of Gonzaga in Spokane... that's really all that needs to said. wake up America, Calipari's crew is back.

7. Louisville (18-4)
Last week #2

Well, we had the 1 vs 2 match up in #2's house, and #1 rolled them. needless to say, Louisville has a bit of work to do. Sill, I believe in this team and their ability to get it done.

8. UCLA (19-4)
Last week Not ranked

Since UCLA's loss to UW (which dropped them from the top 10), UCLA has gone 4-0 winning by an average of 22.5 points per game. They might not be the best team in the nation, but right now, I would love to see them play anyone.

9. Michigan State (19-4)
Last week Not ranked

Michigan state also jumps back into the polls this week after a couple of impressive wins. It's amazing what happens when the bottom four teams in the Power ten, have bad weeks.

10. Clemson (19-3)
Last week Not ranked

After the win over Duke, Clemson seemed like a lock... but then they had to blow a 16 point lead a couple days later to make me think about it. Hence, why they sneak in at #10.

Out............Marquette, Butler, Xavier, and Wake Forest
In............... Memphis, UCLA, Michigan State, and Clemson
Teams to watch....... Villanova, Kansas

Power 25 Pac 10 teams

22. California (18-6)
25. Washington (17-6)

Pac 10 Power Rankings

1. UCLA 19-4 (8-2)
Last week #2

UCLA hasn't just beaten their competition lately, they're playing like a championship team. Now let's see if they can keep it up on the road in the desert.

2. California 18-6 (7-4)
Last week #8

Cal with a couple of impressive wins against the Washington schools. they seem to be finally getting back to playing good ball, and with going 2-0 against the Dawgs, they have to be rated ahead of them, don't they?

3. Washington 17-6 (8-3)
Last week #1

UW with a split in the bay area. Good overall play, but they need to close teams out and play better on the road.

4. Arizona 16-8 (6-5)
Last week #4

UA is finally playing up to their potential which is nice to see. Of course, wins in Oregon don't mean quite as much this season... lets see how they do against the LA schools at home. This will most likely determine whether the Pac 10 gets five or six teams into the dance.

5. Arizona State 18-5 (7-4)
Last week #7

ASU had a couple of nice wins but it still doesn't erase last week. As with UA, let's see how they do next week against stiffer competition.

6. Southern Cal 15-7 (6-4)
Last week #3

Not much too say here. USC got hammered by UCLA and never had another game to rebound. I had no choice to drop them a bunch. Now, let's see how they bounce back.

7. Stanford 14-7 (4-7)
Last week #9

Stanford is Stanford. Not too impressive, but they get some wins. They can't seem to win on the road, but they play tough at home. At this point, they're playing for an NIT birth.

8. Washington State 12-11 (4-7)
Last week #6

Well, back to back losses in the bay area. Tough week for the Cougs.

9. Oregon State 10-12 (4-7)
Last week #5

After watching OSU play both ASU and UA this week, I am convinced that these guys are winning games with smoke and mirrors. They just aren't that good.

10. Oregon 6-17 (0-11)
Last week #10

The record says it all.

This weeks games...

UCLA / USC @ Arizona / Arizona State
Oregon /Oregon State @ Washington / Washington State
Stanford @ California

Happy Hunting!
